The issue
I wanted this one to be an object you keep. Because a beautiful magazine is no longer enough, and because paper can still hold its place in time. Because our industry celebrates great stories, and someone has to keep the record of them — or let others discover them.
Yamaha marks seventy years of high fidelity here, inside a company far older than that, carried by a Japanese sense of time, of gesture and of transmission. Hi-fi built for the long term, able to evolve without disowning what it stands on.
For me, Yamaha is inseparable from Japan. Yamaha is who I made my first trip there with, to a country that had fascinated me since childhood, and from a visit to a piano factory I keep a lasting lesson: the silence, the wood, the time given to every gesture. What it actually means to build an object meant to outlast you.
継承 — keishō. Transmission, inheritance. In Japanese the context carries the meaning: you don’t need to name what is being handed on.
Time. Sound. Emotion.
